bicycles for humanity

In April 2003 Hap Cameron of New Zealand left home with a goal, to live and work in every continent of the world before the age of 30.   On 11/11/11 Hap will be turning 30 and before then has only one continent to work on...AFRICA...the final continent.

To fulfil his mission Hap could have easily bought a plane ticket to Africa and found work as he has done for most other continents. However, for this final continent he wanted a new challenge. Hap has teamed up with Melbourne based charity Bicycles For Humanity who work alongside African based Bicycle Empowerment Network, Namibia (BEN). With them Hap will be sending a shipping container of peoples disused bikes from Melbourne to Africa. Come June 2011, Hap, girlfriend Mandy will cycle the 5000km+ to meet the shipping container. Alongside BEN, Namibia they will help to set-up the container as an ongoing sustainable bike shop business, run by locals, for locals. Hap has also set himself the goal of raising the $12,000 transportation costs of the shipping container. That’s where you come in. Every dollar raised from the purchase of a ‘round again’ ring is donated directly to Bicycles For Humanity on behalf of Haps Final Continent Expedition. It is simple, you buy a ring for $20 and that $20 goes straight towards the $12,000 needed to cover the costs of sending the shipping container.
