In order for a design to be a success there has to be intention and reason behind every design decision. Design that makes a difference is the intention that lies behind my design solutions. It could be creating new design solutions from old disused products/rubbish or developing new solutions to old problems. My design practice aims at disconnecting materials from their traditional uses and using them in a way that often questions the way we see everyday items. Many of my design projects involve identifying materials that are being unnecessarily wasted in excess and creating solutions that utilise and push the selected material to its full potential. Design for me is a personal relationship between materials and handcrafting that involves the giving of life and character to items that would otherwise be undervalued, forgotten or discarded.
